High Fidelity & Breakup Bingo

An anti-Valentine’s night of music bingo, emotional honesty and a cult film about love, lists and overthinking.

This evening is for anyone who is done with roses, forced romance and Valentine’s clichés. The programme begins in the cinema café and unfolds as a shared experience where heartbreak, humour and self-irony take centre stage.

The night opens with Breakup Bingo: Ballads, bangers and emotional damage. A music bingo built around songs that push back against the romance narrative – breakup ballads, revenge anthems and very convincing “I’m totally fine” tracks. Pop, rock, soul, disco, sad songs, angry songs and everything in between. No music knowledge required. Emotional range included. Closure not guaranteed.

The evening continues with High Fidelity (2000), directed by Stephen Frears. A sharp, funny and painfully relatable film about love, music and the urge to process life through lists: top fives, worst breakups and emotional accounting. It remains the ultimate anti-Valentine’s movie and a perfect reflection on love, memory and self-examination.
